DESJARDINS, Achille - At St. Joseph's Continuing Care Centre on Wednesday, July 27, 2011. Achille Leon Desjardins of Cornwall; age 82 years. Beloved husband of the late Pauline (Tessier) Desjardins. Loving father of Bob (Linda) Desjardins of Cornwall, Diane Murphy (Mike) of Elliot Lake, Denise Morrison (Howard) of Whitby and Carole Smith (Graham) of Windsor. Dear grandfather of Steven Murphy (Heidy), Maryanne Murphy, Sean Morrison, Scott Morrison, Mathieu Desjardins and Carly Smith. Proud great- grandfather of Claire and Emily. Achille will be sadly missed by many brothers and sisters. Cremation. Margaret Delia Tessier was born Sept. 30, 1922, in Bannock, Mont., to William and Florence Tessier, and was the sixth of eight children.
She lived through the Roaring 20s, the Great Depression, and World War II.
In 1940 she married George J. Fleck, and they eventually made their home in Oregon.
Throughout her lifetime she enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, dancing, knitting, crocheting, traveling and crossword puzzles.
Always a caring person, she built an addition on to her home and moved her elderly parents from Montana to Oregon so she could take care of them herself.
A wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, mentor and friend, she will be dearly missed by family and friends alike.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Dean, Jean, Mark, Shannon, Kimberly, and Darryl; great-grandchildren, Dana, Jennifer, Elyse, Rylee, Sydney, Devin, Natalie, Aerius, Kamryn, and Rachel; brother, Harley; sister Lelah; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; sons, Jim and George; life partner, Roy Forsberg; sisters, Helen, Irene, and Cary; and brothers, Victor and Dalton.
Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at Skyline Memorial Gardens, 4101 N.W. Skyline Blvd., Portland.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, July 29, at Skyline Memorial Gardens.

Joseph C. LaVigne, age 84 of Cheboygan passed away Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital in Petoskey. He was born October 12, 1926 in Cheboygan to Joseph and Emaline (Ayotte) LaVigne. On January 4, 1958 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Grand Rapids, Joe married Beverly VanOost.
Joe served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the 235th Observation Unit. Upon his discharge from the Army, Joe moved to Grand Rapids in 1953 which is where he met and married Beverly. He worked in factories until 1960 when he received his union card and became a member of Local 340. He worked all over the state of Michigan as an iron worker until his retirement in 1996. He and Beverly then moved back to Cheboygan where they have made their home ever since.
Joe has been a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #791 since 1946 and enjoyed working Bingo every Monday night. He was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he served on the Finance Council and the Building Committee when the new addition was added. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working.
Survivors include his wife Beverly of Cheboygan, three children, Joseph (Cathy) LaVigne of Dorr, MI, Bonnie LaVigne of Mackinaw City and Phillip LaVigne of Cheboygan, seven grandsons, Nick (Jenn), Ryan (Jess), Chris (Amy), Jake, Troy (Jenn), Rickey and Brock, one great granddaughter, Sofia and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Brenda and three brothers and their wives, Andrew (Belle), Tom (Marge) and Fabian (Lorna).

SMITH, Pierrette (nee Tessier) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pierrette Smith, nee Tessier. The heart and soul of our extended family left us on June 30 at Anna Laberge Hospital. She leaves to mourn her husband of 52 years Jim, her sons David (Brenda), Michael (Tammy) & daughter Linda, ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three sisters, numerous nephews and nieces and countless friends. To know Pierrette was to love her. Visitation will be at J.W. Sharpe Funeral Home, 461 Champlain Ave. in Hemmingford on Thursday, July 7 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Romain church on Saturday, July 9 at 11 a.m. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to family, friends and the staff of Anna Laberge Hospital, especially the Palliative Care Unit whose kindness and devotion touched us immensely. Following Pierrette's wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society and the multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, would be appreciated.
